AcousticaBio is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Lead Mechatronics Engineer to join our team in Cambridge, MA at the beginning of our first product design and development phase. This role will be tasked with leading a small team of creative minds to drive the internal and external development of our proprietary microparticle production platform. AcousticaBio is an advanced manufacturing startup solving the greatest challenges in life sciences and beyond using our proprietary fluid processing technology. Currently, AcousticaBio is focusing on using this system to revolutionize antibody infusion administration and improving the clinical care of millions of patients. The company has achieved significant traction and has been awarded a NovoNordisk Golden Ticket at Lab Central, Amgen mentorship through M2D2, and support from Harvard through the Blavatnik Biomedical Accelerator. 
Responsibilities include:
  • Driving the design, development, and implementation of a novel, proprietary microparticle production platform
  • Leading a team of engineers and scientists
  • Driving product development, including but not limited to defining system and hardware requirements, generating concepts, detailed design, assembly, and testing
  • Managing manufacturing efforts, both internally and with external partners
  • Establishing scalable framework for future growth
  • Thinking creatively and analytically to develop comprehensive design solutions and provide feedback to the team
  • Identifying continuous improvement/automation activities
  • Managing multiple ongoing projects while meeting key deadlines
  • Closely collaborating with a variety of cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals
  • Supporting relationships with internal teams and external partners through strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 3-5 years of professional experience working on innovative projects
  • Proven record of electromechanical product design in the field of microfluidics, fluid dispensing, or advanced manufacturing
  • High level of CAD proficiency, preferably in SolidWorks
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and mechanical assembly
  • Proven record of creating and implementing robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Strong communication and people skills, preferably in a leadership capacity
  • Able to manage multiple projects at once
  • A hands-on, get things done mindset
  • Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Bonus Skills:
  • Experience with signal processing of industrial ultrasound technology is a big plus
  • Box/rackmount system build and design experience helpful
  • Experience with a programming language such as C++, Python, etc

  • Base salary $90-110k
